Another Cosmic Snapshot!

These objects are super faint and capturing them in an image takes a lot of patience! Many hours of exposure time, spread out over several nights. Hundreds of photos are taken and any images that are cloudy or show bright airplane or satellite trails are tossed. What’s left is combined into one final image. And even then, that image is usually still too faint for us to see! The astrophotographer has to work with that final image to make it more visible and bring out all of the beautiful colors and details.

But astrophotography isn’t just about science, it’s also an art! The way an image is framed, oriented, and processed is a creative choice. That’s why you’ll see the same object looking very different when photographed by different astrophotographers.

Each person brings their own style and artistic vision to the final image ❤️
